The Developmental Science for Health Professions option within the Human Development and Family Studies major is designed for HDFS students who are preparing for graduate study or advanced training in the health profession of their choice.
Alongside the core Human Development and Family Studies curriculum, the Developmental Science for Health Professions option combines a focus on human biological, psychological, and social development with science foundations and offers students the opportunity to specialize their coursework and capstone learning experience to meet their professional and personal goals.

The Human Development and Family Studies degree program, and the Developmental Science for Health Professions option, do not provide any medical training. Students will however develop a strong HDFS background with the necessary pre-requisites to go on to graduate school or advanced training in the medical field.
