The following environmental camps are free to youth residing in Lackawanna County thanks to the generosity of the DeNaples Family and the Keystone Sanitary Landfill.

Sustainability: Careers, Climate, Critters, and Culture
This program will focus on how human society depends, and has an effect, on the environment. Students will gain a better understanding of what human behaviors have led to our current resource production and consumption crisis. This camp will explore ways people can modify behavior to afford economic growth and environmental protection. Students will be introduced to careers that can provide income, job satisfaction, and can make a difference in the world.

Our Ecosystem: My World Around Me (Section 1)
We each live in a small part of a very large world. Plants, animals, and other organisms live there too. Living creatures, along with the landscapes, climates and weather form a bubble of life called an eco-system. We will explore certain elements of our local eco-system on their own and then examine how they interact with one another. Studying these interesting relationships help us to understand how we can make a positive effect in our corner of the world.

The Biosphere: Living Together – Good For All (Section 1)
The Earth operates as a complex system. There is considerable interaction between the different components of this system (atmosphere, bodies of water, solid earth, and animal and plant life). Changes in one part of the system can be expected to impact all, or some of the others. The basic needs for survival by inhabitants of these components can change their ecosystem and tip the scales of balance among others. We explore how simple changes can have negative and positive consequences.
