DUNMORE, Pa. – Penn State Scranton is shining a spotlight on the campus’ student marshals who will be leading their fellow graduates during the campus’ 56th commencement ceremony procession on May 4 at The Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple. In this series, we’ll feature students who have been selected as student marshals for their respective academic programs. Student Marshal: Kyle Bosley
Major: Information Technology (IT), B.S. – Application Development Option
Scranton: What are your post-grad plans?
Bosley: After graduation, I plan to simultaneously advance my academic and professional careers. I aim to pursue a master's degree and an MBA while working full-time as a software developer. This dual focus will help me integrate practical and theoretical knowledge, enhancing my skills and career prospects.
Scranton: What was your favorite memory at Penn State Scranton?
Bosley: My favorite memories at Penn State Scranton revolve around the times spent with my classmates. We've navigated numerous challenges and celebrated many successes together. These shared experiences have not only enriched my time here but have also built lasting friendships that I treasure deeply.
Scranton: What was your favorite learning experience?
Bosley: One standout learning experience was programming leJOS robots to perform a dance synchronized with music. This project was not only fun but also a creative and practical application of programming skills, showing how technology can intersect with other fields in surprising ways.
Scranton: What experience prepared you the most for what is next?
Bosley: The collaborative assignments designed to mirror real-world situations were invaluable. Beyond honing our technical skills, these projects taught us the essence of teamwork and adaptability in professional environments.
Scranton: Who at Penn State Scranton has supported you and how?
Bosley: I have been fortunate to receive tremendous support from our faculty at Penn State. Professors like Lecturer of Information Sciences and Technology Fred Aebli, Associate Professor of Information Sciences and Technology Debra Smarkusky, and Professor of Information Sciences and Technology Peslak have been instrumental in our development both academically and personally. Their guidance has prepared us well for our future endeavors.
Scranton: Do you have any advice for incoming students beginning their Penn State journey?
Bosley: Start your Penn State journey with an open heart and a resilient spirit. While it's easy to feel overwhelmed, remember to savor each moment — your time here will pass quickly. Engage fully, embrace opportunities, and enjoy the journey; these years have much to offer both in learning and personal growth.
