DUNMORE, Pa. — Ashli Daley, a nursing major at Penn State Worthington Scranton, was awarded the Chancellor's Student Worker Service Award at the campus' annual Assembly, which serves as a jump start to the spring semester for faculty and staff, welcoming them back after the winter break.
Daley, who is an active student on campus and involved in multiple activities and events, has worked in student services as the department's social media and marketing coordinator.
"Ashli has performed tasks that are done by full-time professionals on other campuses," said Brad Kovaleski, director of student services. "She was hired to help with the social media applications and has taken the lead on developing the marketing plans and action steps to implement a robust and regularly updated social media presence for PSWS."
In her role, she has taken the leadership for the campus' presence on Instagram, SnapChat and Twitter.
"On all three of those applications, users/followers have skyrocketed," Kovaleski said. "During the summer months, Ashli pushed for Facebook utilization and launched recruitment programs to get our current and incoming students to 'like' the page. Her energies have led to a very active and positive online presence."
Initially, Daley's role was to be updating applications, but she has taken on a strategic role in their implementation, leading to a more robust and active social media presence for the campus.
"Ashli covers academic and social events, and works to showcase our students and their involvement," Kovaleski explained. "She has worked with admissions to ensure there are competitions and active posts during their events, and has partnered with athletics to ensure regular and constant coverage. Her hard work has created an online buzz of excitement that is paying dividends in our student engagement on campus."
