After breaking all of its previous THON records last year and raising over $29,000 “For the Kids,” Penn State’s THON Committee didn’t miss a beat and immediately started planning to raise even more money in 2018-19.
On Sunday, as THON 2019 came to a close, they found that not only had they broken last year’s record, but that Penn State Scranton was one of the Top Ten Commonwealth Campus THON fundraisers.
With a grand total of $43,538.71, Penn State Scranton placed right at number 5!
In addition, thanks to the previous year’s efforts, the campus qualified to have three THON dancers participate in THON this year, the first time that has ever happened in campus history and a major accomplishment in the THON world.
The campus was also assigned a THON child – another historic first for Penn State Scranton.

Alex Squatrito Katie Walsh and Dana Beecroft represented Penn State Scranton on the dance floor, and were accompanied by a support group of about 70 campus students, faculty and staff who traveled to University Park to cheer them on throughout the weekend.
Their THON child, Arelis Rodriguez, and her family, were there with the trio over THON weekend.

Overall, THON 2019 raised $10,621,683.76, besting last year’s total of $10,151,663.93.
