Mail Room:

Each faculty member is assigned a locked mailbox in the Mail Room, Dawson Building. 

The Business Office (Room 9, Dawson) will provide your key to the lock. 

Because email will be the primary means of communication of important notices to you, it is mandatory that you open an access account with the University. (Please see IT Services in Dawson 116 for email related issues.) 

For other relevant information, please check your mail slot before class on each class-meeting day.

Parking:

All part-time faculty are required to complete an application form for their parking permits. Please contact University Police (570-963-2555) or stop by the University Police and Public Safety Office in the Study Learning Center to obtain and complete the application for your permit.

Learning Center:

The mission of the Learning Center is to promote educational opportunities and enhance academic achievement for all students. Peer, professional and faculty tutors as well as academic mentors provide free academic support to students.

We promote academic success through tutoring, mentoring, guided study groups, study skills development, online resources, workshops and reference materials.

The Learning Center collaborates with faculty, staff and advisers to provide information and resources that will lead to student achievement, persistence and academic success. 

Below are few of the ways we can work together to make a difference for Penn State Scranton students. Faculty support the Learning Center by:

Referral for Tutoring, Academic Mentoring & Disability Services

  • Faculty refer students for one-to-one or small group tutoring, academic mentoring, workshops, information about disability services and use of Learning Center resources such as books, handouts and the computer lab.
  • Faculty refer peer tutors and provide support of tutors as needed. Faculty may provide copies of the course syllabus, study guides or assignment information to help tutors in working with students.

Eileen Giovagnoli, Learning Center Coordinator, is also available for in-class presentations or workshops tailored to the needs of individual courses. 

Library:

Penn State University Libraries, located at https://libraries.psu.edu/ provides access to millions of books, thousands of academic journal subscriptions, and hundreds of scholarly databases. 

The Subject Guides (https://libraries.psu.edu/guides/subject) created by Penn State librarians are the optimal resource for determining what databases are accessible in your discipline and for your research area. 

Additionally, educational media available through a collection of digital streaming databases can be found on the Video Resources (http://guides.libraries.psu.edu/videoresources) guide.

Unique collections that are physically accessible within the library at Penn State Scranton include graphic novels and non-fiction, popular books, movies, and local history and archives. 

The variety of spaces available for student use within the library include a designated quiet study floor, group study rooms, a computer lab, veteran's lounge and the leisure lounge. 

Librarians are available to teach instructional research sessions for your classes upon advanced request. Research assistance (Ask A Librarian) is available for all members of the academic community via text, chat, email, phone, and by scheduling one-on-one research consultations. 

Bookstore:
