On August 11th and 12th, colleagues from the Penn State Commonwealth Campuses met to energize for the upcoming Fall 2021 semester. Commonwealth Connections: Instructor Days featured faculty and instructional designers from all campuses sharing their experiences.
The event explored topics related to invigorating instructor teaching practice, strategies to preserve from pandemic teaching, and practices for supporting students. Instructors from across the University heard from faculty colleagues as they shared strategies and tools for success.

Our Seventh Annual Faculty Development event on January 12, 2021 was a huge success! Instructors and instructional designers from every Penn State campus across the Commonwealth were in attendance to energize for the upcoming semester. Over 370 faculty logged into Zoom for sessions on preserving and promoting faculty well-being, invigorating the teaching practice, learning and engagement, assessment and academic integrity and supporting students in new ways. Other workshop topics explored the technology support available to faculty including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Canvas.
The day concluded with an opportunity to learn about getting involved with Communities of Practice to remain connected with faculty colleagues throughout the coming semester.
Feedback from participants highlighted the helpfulness of the sessions and the relevancy of the topics. Faculty also praised the convenience of the virtual sessions, hopeful that future events will be presented via Zoom to reduce travel time and allow for other duties to continue while they participate in sessions.
