Several area corporations have supported the campus in a variety of ways including the establishment of endowed scholarships from such entities as United Gilsonite Laboratories; CINRAM; Wachovia Bank; The Scranton Times; Gertrude Hawk Chocolates; among others. In addition, we have received generous program support from companies such as Prudential Financial which has graciously supported our mentor program and business skills etiquette program. One Point and Delta Medix have supported our youth camp programs in the form of grant assistance for low income children. These are but a few examples of corporate support for this Penn State location.
Furthermore, area foundations have been most generous in funding various campus initiatives including support of our nursing renovation and business building from Sanofi Pasteur Foundation, the Willary Foundation, the Scranton Area Foundation, the Margaret Briggs Foundation, and others. Many area foundations have also established scholarships and the Verizon Foundation has provided funding for a student media lab.
Lastly, three key additional areas of corporate support include gifts-in-kind where area businesses have donated specialized equipment for classroom or laboratory use as well as the very valuable matching gifts program available to employees which can double, and at times, even triple their annual gift to Penn State Scranton. Another corporate giving consideration is the Education Improvement Tax Credit program.
