Penn State Scranton has benefited tremendously from the generosity of numerous individuals, corporations, and foundations who possess the vision and realize the importance of establishing gifts that will last in perpetuity. Endowments continue to grow and thus become more valuable over time. Benefactors who establish endowments are provided the opportunity to highlight what is important to them as they establish guidelines for these funds in consultation with development staff.
Currently, Penn State Scranton has 65 endowed funds for a variety of purposes including scholarships; awards; program support; faculty research; lectureship; and professional development.
Some of the more common endowments established at Penn State Scranton and other Penn State locations, and minimum requirements for these funds, include trustee and named scholarships ($50,000); awards ($20,000); program support ($25,000); lectureships ($100,000); among others. These commitments can take the form of an immediate gift of cash or securities or be paid over a pledge period of up to five years.
